This is the memory Gateway recommends for her computer:

Type of Memory Modules (shipped):
128-MB 133/100/66-MHz 64-Bit 4-Clock 16x8 SDRAM DIMM

The computer is 950MHz Athlon w/128MB memory running WinXP Home. The computer is terribly slugish for just being reformated so I told her memory would make quite the difference. I'm thinking adding another 256MB would do a good job.

384MB should feel a lot smoother....

My question:
So, I'm thinking I'll get her this stuff here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-303&depa=1

... but Newegg lists the "Organization: 32Mx64-bit," now Gateway sells a 64-bit (listed above) module with 16x8 SDRAM.... are these equivalent?

I'm almost totally sure they would/should be, just wanted to make sure!

Thanks... Bad Air

They problaby WON'T work. I ran into a similar problem with a gateway computer. The new chips are "high dentisy" which won't work on the old POS gateways.

If your interested I might have some older PC100/133 around. I'd be happy to send it to you to test with. (After all I have to go out ASAP and ship a package to Spire & Dad)

I was thinking that too Rolling Eyes

Damnit this is such a pain...

The last thing I want is for the memory to not work (or not improve performance enough).... she has been expressing the want to get a new computer anyhow....

Decisions, Decisions...
