You can actually purchase beer in SLC.
you go to a bar (I think they are called clubs) then get an existing member to sponser you, (pretty much anybody will do it) then buy a membership, (cheap) don't forget to buy a drink for your sponser!
how ever I doubt you find guinness (mostly coors, bud, and other low flavor brews)

I just did a little quick resarch... I'm SOOO Glad I imported my own... Most beer sold their is 3.2 except for those sold in "State Liquor Stores and Package Agencies"
