I am planning to start experimenting with bulding an HTPC.

I know a bunch of you have them in use, so here is the question.

What front end software to use. I know the Hardware side of it.

I'm not talking about a selection of programs that do things, but more of one single solution that will allow me to actually have my wife and kids use a remote control and access the music database, movies, television and whatever else without interacting with winblows at all.

Is Media edition 2005 up to this task? How about Beyond TV 3?

I would really like to have no winblows interaction unless specifically asked for.

I have heard WME 2005 is pretty good... I'm going to be installing it when I some day get a change.... Laughing

I love beyond TV Smile

I use it to do the recording of the tv shows we want. The great thing is when I've got time at work, I can log in and look through the guide for anything off the wall I want to record. The system at home automaticlaly picks up the changes and records it for me Smile

I've been toying with installing WME05 as well, but havn't done it yet...
