Firmware for a 4xdvd+r burner

I bought a pack of 8X dvd+r for my burner, but my burner only supports 2.4x or 4x, on the cd case it says that i can upgrade my firmware and i could burn at 4x speed on the 8x discs, that way i didnt throw any money away. Can anyone help find such firmware, or does such thing even exist?

ty doctor. I am testing it right now. T-shirt i have no idea what the model # is and i dont know how to get it without removing the burner....

I checked in device manager, its Mitsumi DW-7801TE
