I don't quiet now whats going on. I'm using CAT5 cable fresh outta the box and RJ45 connectors and a wiring diagram and my network still doesn't work unless the storebought cable is used.

Are you using high cable? ends? and crimper? Any of the 3 can produce a poor quality/non-working cable, as well as 'operator error' Rolling Eyes

Check that you are pushing the wires all the way up to the end of the connector, I've made one or two crimps where I didn't get them up all the way.

No cable tester and it appears as though all the wires are all the way in. The crossover cable is doing good and next step is wireless anyways.
