Added a new mod to the forum... When you mouse over a thread title on any subforum index you can see the first 200 characters of the first post. There are options to increase the number of characters shown, as well as making it the last post instead of the first post.

Limitations include showing smilies as the bbcode text that creates them, and showing html in side bbcode urls/img tags...

I like it... Any comments or suggestions?

Oh... and the other good thing is that the search page index also shows the preview, perhaps making it easier to find exactly what you were looking for. Or, do a "view new posts" search and quickly browse whats new!
