Who on this forum uses Linux? If so, how much do you use it? I just wiped my hdd clean and did a full install of Slackware 9.1. I must say that this is the best distro I've used!

Any other comments? Wave

I would like to know more serious stuff with Linux... Although I am not a computer or software engineer, I may the one who knows most at my company... And, they are interested in ditching Win2K for our systems in favor of Linux.

My experience is limited to Mandrake 9.1... Laughing

Its nice enough... basically free Windows the way I have it set up... Laughing

I use Slackware 9.1/2.6.x as you already know. I use it full time on the computer in my room (the one I use 99% of the time), and it's the only OS on it. The main computer has Windows on it and I use it to play games, and all my other computers have Linux only.

Linux = All the time, daily. Windows = Err, sometime this year?

I've used many distros and find that Slack is best suited to my taste. There are all sorts of easy ways to do things, but it also lets me learn as I go along. On Mandrake or Red Hat (Fedora, now), I feel that it's too tied down to really become a "power user".

The best part is that there are millions of Linux users available that will help you when you need it, and the documentation on how to do just about anything is endless.

BTW to Big Bruin and anyone else needing help with Linux - I'll be sure to help you with whatever you need! I'm not the most adept Linux user, but I know the basics of how things work, making me adept at finding the solution to the problem Wink
