Maybe in the past overclocking is needed. However, nowadays overclocking seems to be just for enthusiast, aka people who wanna say look how much ive overclocked my computer.

I have to disagree, overclocking is still useful. I just don't like how nowadays overclocking is the only way you can get the real value of some products, like many graphics cards and the AMD Phenom "Black Edition." All the black edition does is make it easier to OC, but hey that stuff sells -_-.

In the end, overclocking IS overclocking, and you do get more than stock. Every bit counts.

I know this is an older thread, but I do think, especially now, that overclocking is not really all that useful. Desktops are on their way out, and laptops are going that way too. I was a huge PC gaming fan growing up, but haven't had any time to do it for a little while now.

i disagree jonny - desktops are far from on their way out

if you want to get actual work done - you use a desktop. tablets and phones are fine for games but not for content generation
