white bg around the text? Did you install a gfx driver or a monitor driver or something completly unrelated?

I am going on a long shot, have you rebooted your computer. I have only had this happen once and it was after instaling omega nvidia drivers on a friends pc. except his was on all of them. Closing explorer re-opening didnt work. rebooted the computer and it looked normal.

If that dont work try rolling back the drivers. You did click backup drivers before installing new ones. Of course you did. Anything else would be silly. *sarcasm*

other posibilities, um, uh. I realy dont understoand your question. screenshot might help. And knowing what drivers you replaced with what.

Worse comes to worse theres is always system restore. But if your anything like me you disable it do to it draines precous resorces. lol.

it was an unrelated driver for a wireless card....

its not the text either... thats fine for some reason....

for example on the internet explorer icon around the "e" theres a square of white around the actual icon instead of it being transparent.

Smile <-- for this you are seeing the round icon w/ the black background now picture a square behind that, thats white.... prolly lost most of u but im at work lol....

ok. I know what you mean. Only time I have ever seen that is when I have a white background. That never happens.

Ok, you got me stumped.

Make sure your video setup didn't get Fubared. If it looks OK, uninstall your video card driver and reinstall a new one.
