Many stories about this - the general jist is that Apple will use Intel x86 chips for their computers starting 2006.

Please vote whether you think this is good or not! Also, please share your thoughts on this.

I'll let the ball roll a little while before adding my Two Cents

I voted "no opinion" because regardless of the chips they use an Apple is still just an Apple Grin

This is a good thing, as you could run XP or any other x86 OS in a virtual machine, instead of using emulation. You could also have OS emulation layers, al la Free BSD for Linux software.

I think it's a bad thing. I'm not a fan of Apples, but I'll admit they really don't have as many problems are a normal PC. Using Intel chips and straying from what they've been using might cause more problems. Meh, to 'ell with em' anyway Laughing

In general, most of the problems with PCs today isn't the hardware, but the software that runs on them (windows). Also, Apple based x86 computers will be very limited in the hardware that they use, so Apple won't have to support every little obscure piece of hardware out there. You won't be able to just go out and buy an average PC and put OS X on it, either.

The best part is that if Apple dosen't like want Intel produces, they could just jump to AMD without any disruption.
