I've been trying to get this setup to work for a couple of days now with no luck.

Intel SE7501HG2
Adaptec 2120S

The problem is that the SCSI card refuses to work when placed in the riser, but it works great when placed directly in the first PCI slot. I've tried the original supermicro riser, and a 1U riser I grabbed out of an AOPEN case, same results. Do I need some kind of special riser from Intel, or some kind of setting I need to change?

SCSI cards like to take over the bus, I belive it causes conflicts with risers. I've personally never used a SCSI card on a riser.

Try hitting Adaptec's site and seeing if they say anything.

This is all that I found on Adaptec's site:

I have found alot of posts in usenet that seem to relate to the same problem. It looks like I will have to get an intel riser for the busmastering to work properly. Thanks for the help. BC.

We fixed it, by switching to a super micro board. Wink
