virus ,security patchs , spam and doing updates . on a daily or weekly basic ?
i bet we all be suprized to know how much cpu and hard drive time is spent . per week |

I just emerge --sync && emerge -NDuva world once a week and update as necessary. Spends a while compiling if it's large programs - but all together, probably still less than all the time Windows is doing virus db updates, windows updates, other program updates, spyware/adware scans, etc.
Yes, EC, I'm still a hater
EDIT: And compiling is now very fast at my place with my desktop, my sister's desktop, and my laptop all balancing the compile process for eachother with distributed C compiling (DISTCC). |
