I am thinking of cancelling my "phone company" landline... but not necessarily for my mobile phone only... I am beta testing the AT&T internet phone as soon as it gets here, and have wanted something like that either from them Vonage, or Cablevision... Winds up cheaper than my regular phone, and has all the features (plus the beta test is free for 3 months)...

Not where I live... unfortunately there is a black hole right above my house that sucks up all cell phone signals! Sad

voip, i am ready for this one, sounds like it will work out for all of us. One thing that the FCC does not have a hand in yet. But i know they are thinking about regulations for voip.

i also heard that in some cities, you will be able to transfer your cell number to any company. that way when the prices get better you can transfer at any time.

I don't even have a cell phone! Won't get one!! I talk on the phone ALL DAY LONG here at work. The LAST thing I want is to have a phone ring when I leave work.

At home...if I feel like answering then I will, otherwise leave a msg.

I torched my cell phone; I don't need to be instantly available all the time. My LL is fine for me.... Razz

My family is currently doing this now.. Have been for about a couple months.. Since everyone uses there cellphones no real need to have a house phone.. It works pretty good, I really never noticed that we ever stopped using it. Except for the occasional annoying call from telemarketers. Wink

Well, that's been my idea for a while now. I was thinking about something and though, why even bother with regular phone service? Just get a cell phone.

Assuming where I lived had reception (which it would, no way I'm moving to the boonies, I've had enough of 'em in the last two years).

I mean, why pay like $20 per month plus long distance when you can have a cellphone with FREE long distance? Especially if you are going to have a cellphone anyway.
