I don't like Mandrake, the latest version I have is 8.1. It's way too n00bish for me. I mean, it's a n00b version of RedHat (it's based on RedHat), and RedHat is n00b to me...

About as non-n00b as I wanted to go was Debian. I installed 2.2 r5 on a PII system and it wasn't hard, but I did have to figure out how to set up X and the window manager I wanted and all that stuff by myself.

Yup! It's a n00b distro (like I said above if you would read it), but it's not slowed down much by the crap.

It's the newest thing I have, so that's what I'm going to use. You can't exactly download whatever you want when you have dial-up you know...

Well, I don't want anything right now. I don't want to spend anything until I sell a few more things.

I'll remember the offer though! Smile

I installed RH8 as a dual boot and it's great. I need the N00b interface as I'm a linux N00b myself. Learning slowly though. I can now mount hard drives, get apache and php working, got samba working (still trying to figure out how to speficy custom shares?!). Later on I want to get into more complex stuff like DNS routing and stuff like that. Basically set it up like a host would with cpanel and all.

Hi crazydude... Mr. T

What exactly is the question? WinXP or Office XP? Not sure I understand fully...

Is this related to this Linux thread?
