is that possible?? i wanna say no b/c the desktop runs at bit hotter than a laptop would correct?? i just have a friggen spare cpu sitting around i wanna use in something its a p4 2.8 and i already have like 3 desktops on my network and dont need any others. _________________

So... you have a laptop with no CPU?
You are right... bad idea. Even if it fits physically, the thermal considerations are what make it a bad idea. Mobile chips generally require less power and run cooler. The heatsink in there probably can't handle a desktop P4.

no i need to get a laptop but i was just gunna try to find out if what im tryin to do is possible but i didnt think it was... iif it were i could try to build one around that cpu not an option though im guessing. _________________
don't waste you time or your lap . thats the biggest problem HEAT !
the temperature off the retail (desktop) CPU may very well burn you .and some of the other parts in the rig !
