Some of you regulars might remember a post I made a long time ago looking for a good front end for a HTPC...

The thread kinda died off...

I have since gotten to try out Winders Media edition... it works, but nothing special.

THis evening I got an offer to try out Snapstreams BeyondMedia and BeyondTV. All I have to say is WOW. Time to finalize the HTPC, build it and plug it in.

This software rocks!!! Does everything I want it to and does it quick and flawless.

I think it runs in a DirectX environment (it loads a DX9 Summer Edition - whatever that is).

SMooth well written piece of software. Links below to 21 day trials!!!

I just stuck the trial in over XP SP2. Works great...

I would probably hack winders 2k to pieces and only have the things BM needed if I was serious about a completely standalone HTPC.

Did you try the demo yet EC?

I've been using that for 3 years now. It's by far the best there is, at least IMHO. I am going to try WMC 05, but havn't gotten around to that yet.

Don't bother Hellfire...

The interface is similar, but WME is so much more a toy than BM.

The whole installation of WME really pissed me off too, you get XP SP2 and a Media editon disk with it...

If M$ would have sold WME as an add on that may have made it second best.
