My PC has a 160GB H/D plugged into a SATA sockrt on M/B.
I have a spare H/D ATA133 which I wud like to use as a secondary drive. Can I use the vacant IDE1 socket on M/B ? and what drive config do I use (master/slave). My IDE2 is used with DVD-ROM/DVD-RW. TNX fer lukin' Jonmac.

Sure can, just plug it in and go...

There is nothing different about the IDE ports on a motherboard with SATA and one without.

There is no interaction between the SATA and IDE. Go ahead and use Master.

You'll most likely need to set the boot order in the BIOS. If it's set to Hard Drive 0 and you plug that IDE drive in, it'll try to boot from that one first.
