Anyone try it yet? I got it installed on a machine here at work.

I know this isn't the final release, but wow. If Microsoft thought Vista was a flop, why would they put this out there?

I feel like my 80 year old grand mother on the computer. Laughing

Thats funny, I actually did a wipe and install of Win8 this morning before I read this. Frankly, its horrible. HORRIBLE I tell you. The final version had better come with a "classic look" version or it will be a major major flop. I'm even considering selling my MS stock based on the preview... its that bad.

I haven't had any interest in looking - 7 is working fine. But, a main push for 8 seemed to be tablet compatibility... Does that stuff drift over to desktop installlations?

Well the default installation enables the new tablet look. I honestly looked for the shutdown option for about five minutes.

It's actually reminded me a little of Gnome 3 with the screen previews and multi desktop like feature.

For home users it might be ok, but a big learning curve. But Microsoft make's Windows for business, and it looks like it will be so much worse then Vista/Millennium combined.

Yea, it'll be great for Tablets and phones; and good for casual family users. Power users or enthusiasts are going to hate it. Worst thing is that if the app is not designed for the new "Metro" interface, you can't get it to show up on there. So any Legacy app you have won't work, and new apps that are for Metro, you'll have to use Metro to start them. So you basically won't be able to totally get away from it.

So I can't get my 3.5" floppy disk version of Wolfenstein on the start menu? Laughing

I can't even figure out how to close an app any more (aside from alt+f4). You can only switch it to the background ala crApple OSes. Where is the big red X button? I also LOATHE the goddamn ribbon interface ala Office 2007 and beyond... its now in windows. No more click file, new, folder... f#*@ the ribbon!

I never understood M$ why they removed the start button, if you click in the same place where the start button was to open start menu!?
