Using a tv wall mount seems to be the way to go with today's ultra-slim LCD and plasma TVs. While a stand is a great choice if you have additional A/V components you need to keep close to the TV, a wall mount is your best bet for maintaining a minimal foot print, placing the TV at just the right elevation, and perhaps to keep it out of reach of your children's busy hands!

Choosing a TV wall mount is not the easiest task, simply because there are so many choices. A site like can be a great resource since it can help you sort through all the different options. Among other things you need to consider the TV's size and weight, where you intend to mount it, and what special features you would like to have. For example, should the TV be just about flush with the wall, should it be able to tilt a bit, or should it be on an arm that lets you pull it out and re-direct the screen in a wide range of motion?

Not all TVs are wall mountable, and those that are may implement different styles of the VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) wall mount bolt pattern. This standard references a two or three digit number after the VESA tag, which simply implies the distance in millimeters between bolt holes in a rectangular pattern. While smaller TVs might use something like a VESA 75 or 100, larger/heavier TVs will spread the bolts out farther and use something like a VESA 200 or 400 (or larger). offers stands for all common sizes, as well as for additional components that will compliment your television installation.
