Found this at Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=27-154-008&DEPA=0

59.99 for an 8x burner.... sounds too good to be true. Is the maker any good, I am all about a low price but not at the expense of quality....

So i am thinking of buying this:
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=27-131-327&DEPA=0

Even looked at this:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0178385

Please, I am open to suggestions.
ty,
bruce

I have internal and external NEC burners... They seem good to me, and have a strong rep online...

What about a 16x +/- for $72ish - and they have 8x +/- NEC for $62!!

Hmmmm..... that plextor has me thinking. Notice all the other drives had a 2MB buffer, and the Plextor has an 8MB buffer.

I bought a NEC 2500a not too long ago from newegg for some where around $70. There is a firmware upgrade out there to convert it to a dual layer burner. I did the upgrade but since there is no dual layer media available yet I have not been able to check to see if it does actually burn dual layer now. Anyway I have been very happy with the NEC burner.

All the reviews sound over the top for this product...

I am looking at NEC right now and will most likely buy 3 of them. Smile

To my knowledge there is no dual media available yet. If there is I would like to know where to get it.
