I am looking to buy a new motherboard, most likely from new egg. I dont really have a preference on the maker as long as it is compatible with 2.8athlon/pc2700/agp8x/under $150.

I will be using this board 60%-gaming and 40%- photoshop/filesharing. On-board sound is not necessary, i use a headset Smile

Could you guys give me some suggestions.

basically looking for a better board then an ECS K7VTA3 KT333 CHipSet - 5 PCI, *4XAGP*, parallel, serial, and 4 usb ports, onboard sound

thx,
bruce

Best mobo for AXP is a DFI NFII Ultra Infinity. A good cheap mobo is an Albatron NF2 board for about $60 at newegg.

thx dude, do you know if that card comes with nvidia soundstorm? Grin maybe....

Even with just headphones, i notice crackling with the soundcard i got so i might as well get a board with sound. Also i am willing to go up on price, is there even a better board out there?

thx for the help,
Bruce

Yes the Infinity has Soundstorm, and a brand new NV chipset Driver has a much better and cooler looking control panel.

Anyone who has an Nforce board should go check out the latest Nforce drivers. They are working excellent for me.

Not to mention the 9.0c Directx, seems to work well, and Far Cry is smoother, happier, and it sounds 10x better.

(Not sure which fixed Far Cry, DX or NV drivers)
