Microsoft's new FREE Antivirus

Yea..Yea...it's a Microsoft product...

Microsoft just released a free AV program today, seem to be pretty small around 7mb to download.

Wonder how it'll stack up against AVG, Symantec, and the others out there...

I downloaded it this AM and installed it on a Vista 64 machine. Looks alot like Windows Defender. Not sure how to test it other than turning off Avast for a while and seeing what happens... Not sure I trust it that much!

Yup, exactly my thougths too LOL

I've asked one of my AV experts where I work to take a look at it...hopefully he has time and lets me know his thoughts LOL

Plus he's not a MS basher so he'll be honest about it Razz

This won't go over well with the paranoid... 'Buried' in settings... You have to pick one, no opt out...

The Forefront engine kinda sucks. I speak from experience. We have to use multiple AV products to clean out various viruses that Forefront doesn't catch. I suppose that no single product can catch every virus out there; I just wish that Forefront would catch more in a timely fashion.
