Here was my first ride... Was red with a white top when I got it at age 15. Had it painted black, then a year or two later it got it's final paint job shown below...

1977 VW... The Magic Bus. Limo tinted windows, 300+W stereo with dual 12" subs, fold down rear seat, and no middle row seat... Sure, it had about zero heat and occasionally needed to be push started, but oh well.

Ah man - that thing was fun.

Got pics of your first car?

That is a pimp first ride. Mine was a 1976 Ford F-150 with a massive "beat to hell" 460 motor. I could see the gas gauge move when I floor'd it. The coolest part was a good portion of the bed was totally rusted out and you could see right through it. Almost forgot I had to pump the brakes to get it to work most of the time, man I ran into so many things with that tank.

I don't have any pictures, but my first vehicle was a 1979 GMC Diablo with an L-82 Corvette engine. It lasted just long enough to get home, then never moved again. Until it was moved from one part of the yard to the other with my truck. It was then traded to my brother-in-law for a 1982 GMC Cabillero, which I never drove legally and sold for a 1976 Chevrolet El camino, which was my "first" car I could legally drive.

My first car was a '72 VW SuperBeetle which I bought for $400 in '82. I did a lot of welding and body work to it and had a local shop shoot it with Ford Grabber Blue paint for $100. I removed all the glass so the guy could paint it inside too. Reinstalled the glass using a Cal-look window seal kit and it looked pretty damn good.

The motor was pretty worn so I picked up a rusty parts car for $175 which had a good motor and four new Bridgestone radials tires. Some other things I did were swapping the tail lights for smaller ones from a '67 and installing a stealth electric antenna under the rear fender. The aerial popped through a hole in the tail light when I turned on the radio. I read about that in an issue of Hot VWs magazine and it looked pretty cool.

No pics either but my first ride was just that to me....just transport. Back then I could have cared less about cars as airplanes were my fancy, which was too bad.

Picked up a silver on black '57 Chevy BelAir from the original owner back in '66. While a Ford man I still wised I had it! Crazy

As far as a micro bus I did manage to drive on of the early ones (late 60s - early 70s) and found out what it was like to get caught in a big crosswind! Glad I was on a 4 lane per side roadway with no one beside me as I went over all 4 lanes before getting in back under my control! Laughing

Laughing First car was a 1973 Mercury Capri, lime green (it got painted primer color). Bought it cheap as a fixer uper. Has a 2.6L German Built V6 in it. Thing was a little screamer.

My first car was a maroon 1987 VW Quantum with a 2.2L straight 5. Kinda glad I don't have pics, that thing was ugly lol
