Still have the speaker crackle/pop but fixed the printer issue by completely wiping out all settings on both ends and starting over. Now I am just working on SW but I think it might be a lost cause right now.

That's strange. Have you tried googling for a solution and/or to try and see if more having are having the same sound problem? Rolling Eyes

In case I'll hear/find anything, I'll let you know... Wink

No the wife was getting cranky I was spending time trying to get the printer working again and reinstalling SolidWorks so I gave up for now. Looks like SW is still an issue even with a fresh install and upgrade to SP3.0. It even seems like I am booting slower now after the latest SW, not sure why since it isn't running on boot and RAM usage really didn't change but who knows.

I've heard SW has some issues running on Vista, but nothing I remember is related to cracking/pop sound problems... Rolling Eyes

I installed SP2 and ran it for a few days then went back to SP1, had notice a lot of issues with boot up and hangs. Will wait for a while before updating again.

That's strange. It's been like 4 days since I installed SP2 and so far I didn't have even a single boot up and or lock up problems and I really hope it'll remain liek that... Wink

Went for a ride this morning and was talking to my buddy that works for a software company....his buddy at another sw company recently updated and has had tons of issues and he is a developer so he knows how to get around stuff. I think I am just going to roll back to SP1 and wait a while to see if they have some fixes for this stuff. I just hope when I go back nothing else gets screwy.

As for the SW on Vista....I was running it for a while before I reinstalled the OS with minimal issues, the only problem I had was with a large assembly and that could have been the limits of the machine.

Please help! Does anyone know where you can find a longer list of system restore points? Since I screwed around so much after installing SP2 the furthest back restore point windows shows is for SP2

that is what I am afraid of...it shows all the install points for the Lexmark software and stuff and SP2 but that is as far back as it goes. I know it made a restore point before installing but I guess it only keeps the last ten or so.

Well I found a way to remove SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948537

The speaker crackle and pop is greatly reduced but not gone. SW still seems to be an issue but I will talk to the support people tomorrow. But one new thing happened since I removed SP2....one of the gadgets I had installed in the sidebar no longer loads...if I add it two appear. Very strange. Part of me is thinking about reinstalling the OS and starting all over again because these little quirks will drive me nuts.
