So, I am making some upgrades to my Lanbox Lite. Up until now it has basically served as a media center, but my wife is wanting to us it for some more intense purposes. The airflow into and out of the case is not horrible, but the AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+ cpu runs a bit warm on the stock cpu cooler, and that is before overclocking. It looks like I have a max height of 88mm for an upgraded cooler. I would also like to keep the unit as quiet as possible. As it is right now, if there is any background noise we have to move extremely close just to see if we turned it on.

Right now what I have found are the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 LP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186019

The Scythe Shuriken
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185063

Anyone have any experience with these or any other recommendations?

Thanks.

I am using the Coolermaster GeminII S in my Silverstone SG02 case. I replaced the stock fan with a 120mm x 20mm Yate Loon to fit under the power supply... you have slightly more headroom in the LanboxLite so the stock fan should work fine. It costs a few dollars more than the other ones you were looking at but performance wise it is one of the best low profile heat sinks: http://www.frostytech.com/top5_lowprofile_heatsinks.cfm

they re also 113mm tall... the OP is asking for something 88mm or less.

I do recall a guy grinding down his NH-C12P with a belt sander to fit in an SG01:

but not everyone buys a $60+ heat sink with the intent to totally alter it's design =)

Thank you all for the help. That Coolermaster looks interesting. I may look into that.

I have to admit, I did join this site for the contest, but in looking around, I really like these forums a lot. There is much less bickering and griping than on many of the other computer forums I have been to.

This Zalman VF2000 looks like an awesome cooler. Even though it says VGA cooler it really is hybrid so you can use it on your GPU or CPU. It's only 45mm tall, so it should fit in any case.

Well, I ended up ordering a Cooler Master, but not the Gemini II.

http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?category_id=1623&product_id=2736

I re-measured my available space and I have 95mm from the CPU to the bottom of the power supply support bracket, and I wasn't certain how much airflow would get through the 7mm gap if I went with the Gemini II. The Vortex 752 is only 75.4mm high, so that 20mm gap should allow sufficient airflow.

Looks like a nice cooler. The Scythe Shuriken is a more popular choice though.
