A good question was is the 500 limit for the CPU alone or the setup? If its for the setup I agree the Q6600 has done well and if you are big into gaming, you will find its best to spend more upgrading your video card as opposed to an expensive CPU.

Save your money & get a Q6600.It is a really nice CPU.You can also wait so that prices for i7 CPUs come down a bit but i think, buying a Q6600 would be nice.

I also think that the Q6600 will give you the best-bang-for-the-buck. I have a G0 Q6600 which is currently overclocked to 3.2GHz. So even if you plan on overclocking, you can usually highly overclock those Q6600 (as long as you have proper cooling for it). Smile

If you have the extra bucks, you can't go wrong with a Q9650, which will be more than enough, till the prices of i7-based system will drop down a bit. Wink
