$40 HSF for OC

So far, the best 775 aftermarket I've read about that is less than $40 is the Arctic Freezer Pro 7. I've also read good reviews about CoolerMaster TX2.

I have an E5200 that I want to OC.

Got any suggestion? Thanks in advance Smile

Wish I could help you out on this, but I haven't used a air cooler on my rig in years.
I did install a old TT Silent Tower on my wifes E6750 and it seems to a great job keeping things cool with it clocked to a mild 3.2 GHz.

The Freezer Pro 7 is a pretty good HSF and hard to beat for the price. Personally, i'm partial to the Tuniq Tower 120 and have also had good luck with the Zalman CNPS 9700, but both of these are more than $40.

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find more bang for the buck than the Arctic Freezer Pro 7. FWIW I'm not a big fan of the plastic push pins otherwise I'd probably own one myself.

@acruxksa-- yup, the Tuniq and 9700 are among the highly regarded but also highly priced coolers.

Maybe you could browse one of the larger fs/ft forums online and find something cheap... Probably a bunch of people moving to Core i7 with incompatible LGA 775 coolers sitting around.

The Xigmatek S1283 can be found for under $40 and it is one of the best coolers out there. You pretty much have to spend about $20 more to get a better cooler. That being said, upgrading to the bolt through kit is almost a must.

OCZ also has some very interesting coolers with similar stacked fin design... im not too sure about the price though...if it stays within your $40 range

Scythe Mugen 2 is on newegg for $32+shipping, it's the best bang for the buck. The other good option is the Xigmatek HDT-1283.

Anyway, I found a seller for a brand new Asus VR Guard. It really looks ugly but seems effective enough, compared to the stock HSF.
