250 vs. 500 gig HDD

Well, it all depends on the specs of the two harddrives. I'd check if both have the same about of cache and the write/read speeds. And by speeds, I mean random, not sequential. Sequential read/writes are very unrealistic. Most of the reads/writes that most harddrives do are random. If both drives are the same in every way and all the reviews are positive, then I'd go with the 500gb.

A 500GB HD will perform just as good as a 250GB HD.

I personally have good experience with Western Digital.

I currently have 2x250GB HD in RAID 0 on my MAIN rig and another 500GB HD on my HTPC.

They both perform well and I have them for more than a year now.

I currently have a WD 250, WD500 Black, WD 1 TB Black and a WD 2 TB Green. The WD Black series drives preform exactly the same and the Green series is slightly slower............ Wink

I only use the thing for back-ups and storing video and that sort of thing, so it doesn't get used all that often really.

true.in my opinion seagate is the first choice
