|
|
So I now have two Radeon HD3850 cards on hand and had to put them in Crossfire. While one is an ASUS at 750MHz core and 950MHz memory, and the other is a Visiontek at 668MHz core and 829MHz memory, they look identical except for stickers on the cooler. Both have 256MB of memory, and the Visiontek overclocked to the ASUS spec easily.
Just ran a quick check on 3DMark06... 1440x900, No AA, Optimal Filtering.
The ASUS card by itself: 10193
The cards in Crossfire: 12993
Looking around I see I should expect a bit more, but not that much. Oof... That was less than exciting. |

I heard that the drivers are coming to unlock more of the potential of crossfire. _________________

Hmmm... I just noticed that my motherboard (and every other P35 board I have looked at so far) has the second x16 PCIe slot only available as x4 electrically.
I think my old 975 board has two real x16 slots... |

I don't recall being asked to defend it. I do like laughing at some of your problems... Even when I don't know if they are serious or operator error, though...
It looks like all P35 boards are this way. Not sure yet. |

Me thinks you are correct, sir.
I don't recall seeing any P35 boards that aren't 4x or 8x electrically. Asus is one of the few SLI boards I've come across that was 16x/16x and that was a while ago.
EDIT: Did see this one that's 16x/8x

Have you tried 3DMark06 with Catalyst 8.3 already, Doctor Feelgood? Or even better, wait for 8.4 and report back.
I believe you should get maybe 1-2K points more, but i can be wrong too. Its just that i get 13299 points with single 3870 in winXP, so i believe 2 3850's should do more than that. Or maybe only 512MB ram total, prevents them for going higher...who knows!? |
