sooo i need a new system i havent really updated anything on mine since ive joined the forums. So my system is roughly four years old.
curret:
amd 64 4000+
asus a8v deluxe motherboard
x850 pro 256 graphics card
320gb sata hdd
2 gig corsair xms
creative x-fi playtinum soundcard
looking to build:
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor HERE
-ASUS CROSSHAIR AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard -
HERE
-OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit - HERE
-BFG Tech BFGR88640GTSOCE GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - HERE
so thats what im thinking for now. I still need a power supply and dont know what to look for in one of those. Also I'm not sure on the ram... I don't wanna spend a ton on ram unless ill notic ea difference and only getting one graphics card for now to cut back on cost lol....
opinions? thoughts?
That came to about $934 but ill probably end up getting a different case and will need a power supply so ill have to budget a couple more _________________

I say, drop the 640mb 8800gts altogether and go with a 512mb 8800gt. It will save you some money and should perform better. Assuming you can find one. _________________

Agreed.
Also, instead of the 6400, maybe just the 6000. Not sure what the price diff is, but might save a few $$ |
