soo it finally went tonight during a live show i was spinning... my motherboard can still see the drive but not able to load anything off of it... any chance you think ill be able to get my info off of it? just ordered this in place of it.

I just bought one of those from compusa and it died after 1 day but i was able to get all the files off of it first. It was the first time I saw an smart drive detected failure wierd. On the other hand it is the second drive I own of the same type and the first works flawlessly.

lol.... i had *most* of it backed on my laptop... it worked fine for a while after so i was like meh i got a bit before it will completly fail... guess it happened lol, and in the middle of my live radio show so it was all the sweeter lol...

in my defense as well my system wasnt seeing the hdds so i was thinking the mobo was going out or something but... ya i still didnt back up lol

try putting the hdd in the freezer for a day or so, then plugging it in and quickly leeching the data off onto your new hdd.

It's a fairly well known fix, whether or not its actually a fix or will do anything at all is controversial. So, no, I wasn't BSing you Smile

Make sure to throw it in a ziploc baggie before doing it if you do decide to try it.
