Some benchmark apps are good at IDing cards (if you can get it installed, but that sounds like the problem... Try Everest, look under Display - Windows Video:

This doesn't happen to be a Linux install? I'm getting tired of Linux never configuring my ATI cards right... |

Can you determine if it's a "Built By ATI" card? You will need to examine the card physically. I don't know if this method works for third-party vendors such as Sapphire, Powercolor, etc.
Read this tutorial to ID the card's serial number and this online application to decode the serial number.
You can also try Belarc Advisor to ID the card. _________________
