Looking at upgrading my gtx 295 to running 2 of msi's gtx 460 hawk talon attacks for some extra power, slightly lower running costs and a generally quiter/cooler computer Smile.
My problem is im running with a gigabyte ex58-ud5 board at the minute and with my other cards(x-fi titanium pcie x4 card and pci tv card) ive kinda run out of space as gpu's are dual slot.
My idea was the put the 2 hawks in the bottom pci-e slots which are the 2nd and 3rd slots on the board but the bottom only runs at 8x not the full 16 unfortunatly.
Would I run into any problems sticking one of the hawks in the 8x slot? Most things ive looked at to do with the subject seem to suggest id only run into problems if i was running a dual gpu board, like the 295 in the slot.
At somepoint im going to put the 295 i already have in the 8x slot and jsut see what happens but what do people think of the idea?
Will I be able to run a hawk through an 8x slot without too much of a hit or problem?
Thanks for any help.
