My wife and I are always going off on how the penal system is a joke.
Here in Canada there was an inmate who was serving a life sentence with no chance for parol but was receiving $1000 a month in old age benefits while getting free room and meals on our dime.
Another guy who chopped the head off a passenger on a Greyhound bus and got off on the whole insanity plea is now being allowed to have supervised outdoor periods.
To hell with that. You do the crime, you do the time. You forfeit all but the basic human rights - you are treated like a human being but you sit in your cell and rot or, if you're not in Canada you get your death sentence after a certain period of time has passed for you to try and clear your name.
I need a drink!
