Alright good news, and yet still some bad news. First off, thanks to spire and some nice help on AIM I did get XP to run and install. It turned out to be a bios problem, my CD drive wasn't the in the first device check.
The one disk I was talking about that came with the Windows XP Home disk, is "Windows XP OEM Preinstallion Kit" and it has Service Pack 1a on it. Not sure what it's for though.
The software problem I'm having is that whenever I try to get the latest windows driver (start > windows update) it brings me to the microsoft page and I scan the computer for which updates it needs but it runs into an error:
Quote: | Windows Update has encounter an error. This may be due to a discrepancy in your computer's time setting.
To check your date and time setting:
1. On the taskbar, double click the time.
2. Vefiry that the date and time is correct. |
I do what it says, I am on Central Time and it is to my setting but for some reason it still gives me this everytime. The internet is up and running on that machine and all, but the automatic scan for update system that windows usually does isn't poping up either.(it is on in the system properties.
I'm not sure about this Service Pack 1a that I installed with the disk though, it said it updated the drivers to newer versions, but I dunno how new and if it came with all the critical.
Is there another good site where I can download Windows XP Home updates at? Microsoft... blah.
Thanks again,
