I guess a2's from other systems count, for some reason I was under the impression that they needed to be from the system folding bigadv units.
I wouldn't say you should throttle back, I pretty much shutdown my two other full time folders each with one gpu and one smp client. Currently I'm only running a gpu client part time on my main computer and the dual xeon system folding the bigadv units. I couldn't tell you what it draws, but it's running off a 500w psu and onboard graphics (linux commandline doesn't need a whole lot of gpu power). Each quad has a TDP of 80w + 6 sticks of memory, the motherboard and losses in the psu. 250W is probably pretty close to the ballpark. The 60,000 pts was from one work unit, but don't for get that work unit took about 2.25 days to complete, so it ends up averaging about 27,000 pts per day.
If you keep your system running a bit longer we can break onto the top 300. Perhaps you should look into folding bigadv units with your i920, it would give you similar pts. to me and should cut power consumption significantly when compared to the GPU's. If this is your main computer though, it would be tough to do given the requirement to have linux installed to run bigadv units.
I should also add that I flew down to Bellingham this morning and will be down here for two weeks for work + another week in Ketchikan for training, so my system is pretty much running unattended and anything can happen given how new it is. I think I can talk my wife through the command line procedure to get things going if we lose power or it spontaneously reboots, but who knows. I didn't get time to edit the config and make it start automatically:D _________________
