Just picked up another H&R for my collection. I think I'm up to 12 or so H&R's and NEF single shot rifles and shotguns. I already have one of these, model 1871 Buffalo Classic, in it's original chambering of 45-70 Govt, and the 22" barreled "Handi Rifle" in same chambering. This one I just picked up will get reamed out to 45-120 with the reamer I ordered yesterday. I've been loading my 45-70 up into the .458 Winchester Mag energy levels, this 45-120 will survive .460 Weatherby Mag energy levels in the H&R receiver - both the .458Win and .460Wby mags are elephant guns.
New rifle, 32" long barrel Harrington and Richardson 1871 Buffalo Classic in 45-70, soon to be 45-120.
The 45-120 casing compared to its little brother, the 45-70(loaded with a 405gr slug), a 12ga 2-3/4", a 44mag, and a 22 long rifle. The 45-120 casing is 3-1/4" long itself, then added the bullet on the end.
I will be doing a set of stocks like the set on my .223 varmint rifle below for this new gun.
