A lot of people, us here at Softpedia included, were pretty surprised when the announcement related to the new Max Payne 3 videogame arrived. The third title in the series will be developed by Rockstar, not by usual studio Remedy, and the overall look, from what we've seen until now, is pretty different from the first two installments.
Now, more surprising details are appearing related to Max Payne 3 courtesy of computer magazine Game Informers, which is set to arrive on stands later during this month. Advanced copies of the magazine, leaked to some, are said to talk about the fact that Max Payne is no longer playing cop in the United States. It seems that the main character lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil, far away from the tragedies that he witnessed and took part in New York. Apparently, about a decade has passed and Max is now heavier, less fit, even a bit balder.
Fortunately, the guy who used to love Mona Sax and killing mobsters seems to be as eager as always to fight injustice and more than capable of using bullet time to become a whirlwind of death. It's yet not clear why the old cop will be forced into action again, but we hope that the noir feel of the original game and the story panels will be back for Max Payne 3. Maybe Rockstar will manage to find some supporting characters for Max Payne that will be as interesting as Mona Sax and Vladimir.
It is also said that Game Informer is talking about a multiplayer component for the game, which is set to arrive for the PC, the Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3 sometime during this winter. Rockstar has a habit of holding out details related to its projects until the release date, but it will be hard for the studio to deal with fans hungry for news on Max Payne. |
