it's not pci x4 but rather pciex 4x. This is just like your x16 slot PCIE for your video card. This slot is meant to be used with pcie expansion cards like tv tuner, raid cards, etc.
PCIe expansion cards are designed that a 16x slot is compatible with x1, x4, x8, x16 cards. So by havnig it x4 lane, you can put x1 or x4 cards in it. |
