There is a section on speakers and any of the options listed would be better than the $1000 bose system. If Space requirements force you to go with an HTIB system then at the very least get the 4 speaker packages near the bottom of the post. All are better than the Bose and half the price.
I just checked and most of the links on the first page are bad, but some of them still work. It's a long thread, but there are several other speaker options listed throughout it.
