| I was looking to build a new array and was about to buy some WD Black 640GB drives (5-year warranty)... 1TB seemed like too much money then. Newegg didn't have enough in stock (I wanted 4), so I bought Hitachi which was $25 less per drive, but 3 year warranty. Of course the next day a variety of brands and sizes went on sale for less, and even the WD with a 3 year warranty is now the same as Hitachi's price. Damn it - I need to not go online for a few weeks after I buy something so I can't see what could have been. |
