I'd be driving a crew cab duramax today if the dealers were even close to reasonable. I began looking last summer. All I wanted was a standard, no options Duramax 4x4 1 ton and found several that we're along the lines of what I wanted. The problem was the dealerships wouldn't "deal" I offered $1500 over invoice and was laughed at by the local dealerships (They wanted $40,000). The dealership down in Idaho wanted what amounted to $2500 over invoice ($38500). This was for what amounted to a fleet vehicle with no power locks or windows and a simple AM/FM radio. That's how I like my trucks, plain and simple. My research showed invoice to be approx. $35500 give or take $500. In the end I decided to get a used truck and ended up buying my new Toyota FJ Cruiser at $1000 over invoice locally. Guess the Chevy and GM guys aren't laughing anymore. Perhaps if they weren't trying to fleece every customer that came along they would sell more vehicles. That's more of a dealership issue than a manufacturer issue though. _________________
