Back in the early 80's when I took my Motorcycle riding course, part of the training was obstacle avoidance. They taught us to jump over tires and drive up and down a teeter totter style ramp.
That training came in handy when a chunk of metal I-beam fell off a truck I was following one day. The front wheel hit it and the bike was airborne for a few seconds. The rim suffered a small dent from the incident. My brother in law was on the back and nearly sh*t himself
Interestingly enough though I never actually had to drive on public roads in order to get a license. All instruction was done on a closed course, even at the license bureau. |
