i just got this same case to build a new pc.

i wonder what that wire with molex connectors from the front are for; do i need to hook it up with one of free slots in the PSU?

That feedthru is power for you temp gauge and needs to be hooked up to a molex connector. Being a feedthru allows one to hookup something else

also, the sensor for the temp display ...is that designed to be squeezed in under the CPU or its socket? or is it to hang freely to sense the temp of air inside the case?

It can be mounted next to the CPU (just make sure you don't prevent the hsf from fitting flush), attach it to your HDD, or even your GPU (again watch the heat sink). It should have come with a piece of "yellow" thermal tape to keep it in place. I'm currently using it for case temp ("hanging free" as you stated) on this build as well as DreamCatcher v2.0 and Yoda’s SMN
