I've seen 4 ton dually pickup trucks hanging off my phone lines..
The weakest support strand they use on the telephone lines(the ones on bottom) are rated at minimum of 6000 lbs. Just about all lines placed in the last 25 years is lashed to 10M (10000lb) rated steel. Self-support cable (cable and strand formed together with polymer coating) is rated at 6.6M (6600lbs).
Power companies are using 10 to 25M cables.
