I upgraded to the most recent BIOS on the P5KC and the overclocking page changed alot!
I wasn't sure what to do with some of the extra options, and then some things seemed to have been renamed.
Anyway, overclocking doesn't seem as easy. I can't stay stable at the same speeds and settings that I used to be able to.
Vcore seems to be one of the problems. I eventually found the new place to limit the droop, but I have to set the voltage up to like 1.425 in order to now see a 1.320 in CPU Z.
System used to run fine at 8 or 9 x400, 1600MHz memory, 1.320 Vcore, 1.8Vmem, 1.4V on the northbridge... Now it still does, for a while. Then it will just reboot, or a game will dump out to windows. Worst is that sometimes Internet Explorer dumps out to Windows.
I may just roll the BIOS back instead of fighting for stability with this new one. |
