You all speak the same thing and yes thats what I thought, the router will not bottleneck the switch.
I was just making sure data would not travel through the switch to the router and back to the switch to a second machine.
This is what I though was the case if for no other reason than there are VERY few residential grade gig routers but a ton of switches.
Now, a second question. If I build a server do I even need a router? Can I use the server (2 NICS installed) to control the network and just use the switch?
Internet to one nic, second nic to switch, switch to rest of computers? Can I plug a wireless AP into the switch for the laptop?
Am I talented enough to configure all this? |
