Hang on. If I understand this, you have:
(Internet)--(10/100 Router) --- (10/100/1000 Switch)=====(various computers on network, all with gig-Ethernet)
If this is the case, and the switch ONLY goes to your router and to your computers, then all the computers will use giganet and the bottleneck will be to the internet. More than likely, however, you're not doing 100 mbits to the ISP so there's no point to upgrade the router. Upgrading the switch will allow your computers to transmit all data at gig or lower speeds.
