Sorry to disappoint you, but yes, they have died off.
Bill McEwen is president of a company which is called "Amiga, Inc.", but which was incorporated only in 2003! He also was involved in two other companies with exactly the same name (sounds like deception to me), all incorporated in different states (South Dakota, Washington, Delaware), all of which are unrelated to the glorious Commodore-Amiga, and all of which silently disappeared. But Mr. McEwen is certainly a survival artist, if not (yet) a convicted scam artist.

This is not new, Bill first announced this 8-10 years ago (just search for "Bill McEwen" on YouTube), and every now and then some copy & paste journalist keeps quoting him.
Why don't you do some serious research? Here is some reference to begin with:

Next time you meet him, you could ask Bill what he did with the money from the $100 Party Pack and $50 I am Amiga Club coupon money. That was about 80thousand dollars. Did he use it to buy christmas presents, a Maserati car and other expensive gadgets (like "a V-Twin 1500cc Victory Motorcycle, a Polaris Quad, three horses, a ski boat and a John Deere Tractor" as he boasted on http://amigadocuments.googlepages.com/2001-06-04_fr-planet_interview-bill-.pdf) while his employees couldn't pay their medical bills? |
