On Sunday night (January 06, 2008), we attended the Digital Experience, a Pepcom event. This event included many presentations of equipment. It would take several pages to go through what each booth had on display. So once again, we will only highlight a few items.

First thing we saw was a new Alienware display. The display is enormous, and is curved! Not a true wrap-around display made up of multiple screens, this is one screen in one box. Now before you start jumping about making a curved LCD, it's not based on LCD. It uses DLP, so it is not a thin screen like many of us are used to. The quality on this screen is exactly what you would expect from an Alienware product. Perfect! There currently was no price estimate, nor was there a street date for this screen. I would expect it to be above $500, if not closer to $1,000.

Kingston had a display of their popular memory modules. In addition several new USB Flash drives were on display. The blue flash drive is based on their HyperX technology and should be their fastest flash drive. The size of this drive ranges from 1GB up to 8GB. I believe the estimated retail will be around $100 for the 8GB.

As I mentioned with the CES Unveiled, digital photo frames were everywhere. At least every couple of booths they were displaying digital photo frames. Tonight, the best that I saw was manufactured by SmartParts. Of course the screens looked incredible, however the best part was a 32" digital photo frame! In addition, another new display is a digital photo frame and printer in one. The photo is printed on very high quality paper with photo ink. The paper and ink is contained in one cartridge, and the gentleman we spoke to, believed it was 30 prints per cartridge, and that he estimated the replacement cartridges would be around $20! No more having to go to your computer to print that photo out for the kids grandparents! They see a photo they want, simplay hit print, and it pops out the back!

Another big item is "Green" products. Solio was displaying several solar chargers. These devices are universal chargers to replace your power bricks for devices like cellular phones, mp3 players, handheld game devices, and GPS. When you charge your device it will take the same amount of time to charge with a Solio device as it would with a wall charger. In addition, once you have charged your device, you can also continue to charge the Solio for it to store a charge to power your device later. This extra charge can last up to a year. If your Solio needs power, and the sun is not available you can also charge it by USB.

Finally, one last thing that really excited me was presented by Amiga! For those that have been into computers for decades, the Amiga is probably not a new name for you. If like me, you thought they died off, well they havn't. Their focus has changed from hardware to software. The first phase of the new Amiga OS, is available as Amiga Anywhere version 2. This new platform allows software to run on all types of devices including cell phones, audio/video players, laptops, desktops, servers and cameras. Currently the Amiga Anywhere software is available for Windows, Windows Mobile, Linux, and Linus Embedded. Soon they will have it available for Symbian and MAC. In addition to running software written for Amiga Anywhere version 2, it will also run the classic Amiga software! I can't wait to check this out!

Many other products were shown, however these really caught my attention. More devices will be discussed over the course CES.
